So will you say when disaster strikes you, though you had struck them with twice as much, Where has this come from?

Why, when an affliction visited you, and you had visited twice over the like of it, did you say, 'How is this?'

Is its that when a reverse hath befallen you, albeit ye had inflicted twice as much, ye say whence is this?

(What is the matter with you?) When a single disaster smites you, although you smote (your enemies) with one twice as great, you say From where does this come to us?

And when a calamity befell you, even after you had inflicted twice as much, you said, How is this?

And how come when a calamity befell you, you began to ask 'How has this come about?' even though the enemy has suffered at your hands (in the Battle of Badr) double what you have suffered!

And was it so, when a disaster smote you, though ye had smitten (them with a disaster) twice (as great), that ye said How is this?

What, when an affliction visits you while you have inflicted twice as much do you say, How is this? !

Why is it that when a single disaster struck you on the day of Uhud , although you had struck the enemy in the battle of Badr with one twice as great, you said, From where is this?

If misfortune befell you (the believers) your enemies had suffered twice as much (in the battle of Badr) but you asked, Where did the misfortune come from?

What! when a misfortune befell you, and you had certainly afflicted (the unbelievers) with twice as much, you began to say Whence is this?

What! When a misfortune befalls you, after you had yourself inflicted twice as heavy losses, you say, How has this come about?

What! When a single disaster smites you, although ye smote (your enemies) with one twice as great, do ye say? Whence is this?

For there is a time and procedure for every purpose, although the misery of man is heavy on him.

Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.

Why, when an affliction hits you and that you had yourselves inflicted twice the like of it, you said 'How is this' Say 'This is from your own selves' Surely, Allah has power over all things.

Indeed among you is one who will certainly loiter behind then if some disaster were to befall you, he would say, It was Allah s grace upon me that I was not present with them!

Some of you there are that are dilatory then, if an affliction visits you, he says, 'God has blessed me, in that I was not a martyr with them.'

And verily there Is among you he who laggeth behind, and if an ill befalleth you, he saith surely Allah hath bestowed favour on me in that I was not Present with them.

There is certainly among you he who would linger behind (from fighting in Allah's Cause). If a misfortune befalls you, he says, Indeed Allah has favoured me in that I was not present among them.

Among you is he who lags behind. Then, when a calamity befalls you, he says, God has favored me, that I was not martyred with them.

Among you there is such who lags behind, then if some affliction strikes you, he says 'Indeed Allah bestowed His favour upon me that I was not present with them.'

Lo! among you there is he who loitereth and if disaster overtook you, he would say Allah hath been gracious unto me since I was not present with them.

Among you is indeed he who drags his feet, and should an affliction visit you, he says, It was certainly Allah s blessing that I did not accompany them!

Surely, there are among you, he who lingers, then, if an affliction hits you, he would say 'Allah has favored me, that I was not a martyr with them'

And indeed, there is among you he who lingers behind and if disaster strikes you, he says, Allah has favored me in that I was not present with them.

There are some among you who lag behind (in battle) and if you were to experience hardship, they would say, It was certainly due to God's favors to us that we were not present with them,

And surely among you is he who would certainly hang back! If then a misfortune befalls you he says Surely Allah conferred a benefit on me that I was not present with them.

Among you are some who lag behind and if you encounter a setback, they say, God has been gracious to me I was not present with them.

There are certainly among you men who would tarry behind If a misfortune befalls you, they say Allah did favour us in that we were not present among them.

When quantitative precision and an unyielding approach to debt obligations are the rule, conflict and penury soon follow.

When death approaches any of you, and you make a bequest, then take the testimony of two just men of your own folk or two others from outside, if you are travelling through the land and the calamity of death befalls you.

When death approaches one of you, let two reliable persons from among you act as witnesses to the making of a bequest, or two persons from another people if you are travelling in the land and the event of death approaches you.

O you who have believed, testimony should be taken among you when death approaches one of you at the time of bequest that of two just men from among you or two others from outside if you are traveling through the land and the disaster of death should strike you.

Believers, when death approaches any one of you, let two just men from your own people (Muslims) or any two other men (People of the Book) if death befalls you on a journey, bear witness to the bequest.

Believers, when death approaches you, let two just men from among you act as witnesses when you make your testaments or two men from another tribe, if the calamity of death overtakes you while you are travelling in the land.

The witnesses between you when death approaches any one of you, at the time of making a will, should be two reliable men from among you, or two from another tribe in case you are travelling in the land and the event of death approaches you engage them after the prayers, and if you doubt, they must swear by Allah that, We shall not exchange our oaths for any price even if he is a near relative, nor will we hide the testimony of Allah if we do, then surely we are of the sinners.

O believers, the testimony between you when any of you is visited by death, at the bequeathing, shall be two men of equity among you or two others from another folk, if you are journeying in the land and the affliction of death befalls you.

O ye who believe! the testimony amongst you, when death presenteth itself to you, at the making of a bequest shall be that of two equitable persons from amongst you, or two others from amongst those not of you, if ye be journeying in the earth and the affliction of death afflicteth you.

When death approaches you, let two men of equity among you act as witnesses when you make your bequest or let two of those from others than yourselves act as witnesses if you are on a journey when the affliction of death befalls you.

Let there be witnesses between you when death draweth nigh unto one of you, at the time of bequest two witnesses, just men from among you, or two others from another tribe, in case ye are campaigning in the land and the calamity of death befall you.

The witness between you, when death approaches any of you, while making a bequest, shall be two fair men from among yourselves or two from among others, if you are journeying in the land and the affliction of death visits you.

Believers, if you are traveling in the land and the affliction of death befalls you, at the bequeathing testimony shall be two just men from among you, or two others from other than you.

When death approaches any of you, (take) witnesses among yourselves when making bequests, two just men of your own (brotherhood) or others from outside if ye are journeying through the earth, and the chance of death befalls you (thus).
